WP6: multi-hazard dynamics
Task leads: King's College London, Amrita
Task 6.1: collate case histories of landslide multi-hazard cascades/coincidences
Task 6.2: map potential multi-hazard scenarios
Key deliverables
- Database: landslide-related multi-hazard case histories for pilot-study areas. LANDSLIP web site; DesInventar for selected studies
- Report: table and explanatory text of potential multi-hazards in pilot-study areas
WP6 examines multi-hazard scenarios that involve landslides. For example, an earthquake might trigger landslides, or hydrological conditions might make a region more susceptible to landslides so that if an earthquake occurs, the area will be more susceptible to landslides.
We will compile potential multi-hazard cascades and coincident multi-hazard scenarios in our two pilot-study areas through two ways:
- studying case histories of past events, including, in conjunction with WP5, their impact
- looking at global theoretical potential interactions between hazards
For example, in work done recently we examined theoretical triggering relationships between 21 different hazards.
